Idoma Centenary Plus to Host Landmark Lecture Series on Politics, Professions and the Future of the Idoma Nation
The Board of Trustees of Idoma Centenary Plus has announced the upcoming Centenary Lecture Series, a major intellectual and cultural gathering designed to spark critical conversations about the identity, leadership, professional growth, and political direction of the Idoma people as they approach a new century of possibilities.
The event, themed “A People, Their Professions and Their Politics,” is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 30th May, 2026, by 10:00 AM prompt at the Ochacho Main Auditorium, GRA, Otukpo, Benue State.
According to the organizers, the lecture series is more than a commemorative gathering. It is intended to serve as a platform for reflection, dialogue, and strategic thinking about the collective choices that have shaped the Idoma nation over the decades and the choices that must now define its future.
Described as “a century of choices and a conversation that cannot wait,” the event will bring together distinguished leaders, professionals, policymakers, academics, and stakeholders from different sectors to engage in honest and forward-looking discussions.
Leading the keynote presentations are two respected voices in law, governance, and institutional development.
Speaking on Political Choices is renowned legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, whose extensive experience in governance and public accountability is expected to provide deep insight into the political realities and future aspirations of the Idoma people.
The second keynote address, focused on Professional Choices, will be delivered by Arc. Dr. Sunny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, widely recognized for his contributions to education, institutional reforms, and national development.
The event will also feature a high-level Soapbox Session under the banner: “Five Voices. One Conversation.” The session is expected to foster dynamic discussions around leadership, identity, development, governance, and opportunities for the younger generation.
Speakers for the Soapbox Session include:

Dr. John Ofutu, of Winsbeach Homes, United Kingdom (Virtual Participation)
Maj.-Gen. Ede Ode (Rtd.), Army General and Research Scientist
